Sometimes swamp land, omitted area, and island surveys have overlapping considerations.
For instance, the peripheries of swamp land may have been originally meandered along upland edges instead along river edges.
This would obviously cause a large area of omitted land.
The Swamp Land Granting Acts still apply to the omitted area in meeting the requirements for conveyance of qualifying lands to certain states.
But the survey is conducted under the omitted area criteria.
